Good morning.
I find this forum very informative.

I want to install a motor from a Sharan, manufactured in 2001, into a vehicle that does not have a CAN bus system.

And that's where the problems start. The Sharan is just a mishmash of things.

CAN bus for engine, ABS/ESP, and transmission.
But diagnosis via OBD-2.

Can I simply remove control units?
Will it still work then?

Can they be programmed out?

Perhaps someone would be willing to help me through this difficult time.

Motor + Motorsteuergerät alleine werden nach Anpassung der Wegfahrsperre erstmal laufen, die Frage ist nur wie...

Hi, so I have a Sharan 2.8 Ayl with an automatic transmission.

Okay, I've now, for testing purposes, removed the transmission control unit and the braking control unit, or at least disconnected their connectors, and I'm only getting the following error message:
18034 - Data bus fault: No message received from the transmission control unit.
P1626-35-00
18057 - Data bus drive: No message received from the ABS control unit.
P1649-35-00

If I also remove the speedometer, then this is what remains:
18058 - Data bus malfunction, no message received from the instrument cluster.
P1650-35-00

However, for some reason, I can then no longer access the CAN gateway.

Die Fehlermeldungen bezüglich der fehlenden Steuergeräte kann man in der Motorsteuergerätesoftware deaktivieren (Chiptunerarbeit).

Theoretisch könnte man mit eigener CAN Hardware die fehlenden Nachrichten auch schicken, was aber aufwendiger wäre.

Or, why couldn't I access the gateway anymore after I disconnected the instrument cluster?

Is there a way to transfer the signal, which is currently transmitted via the bus, to a conventional luminaire for the MKL (Motor Kinetic Limiter)?

Evtl. läuft die Diagnose bei diesem Motorsteuergerät nicht über CAN, sondern geht per K-Line zum Kombiinstrument und dann weiter.

Sieht man alles z.B. in eine VCDS Autoscan.
