Hello everyone!

I have a Golf V GT TSI and I would like to control the Climatronic via CAN.
Since my auxiliary heater was installed later (not available from the factory on TSI models), you need to set the temperature to 'HI' on both sides and select the 'upward' airflow direction.
If you forget to do this before turning off the ignition, not enough warm air will be blown into the interior.
That means the car is not being properly defrosted.
I would now like to use the control signal from the auxiliary heater (12V High active) and the information about whether the ignition is on to control the Climatronic accordingly.
If the ignition is off and the control line for the auxiliary heater is set to 'high,' the airflow should be set to 'vent' and the temperature should be set to 'high.'
As soon as the ignition is turned on, the values that were set before operating the auxiliary heater are restored.

The question also arises whether the air flaps are movable when the ignition is switched off.

The Golf V also has Climatronic controls with an instant heating button for the auxiliary heater.
Perhaps this control panel has a special heating mode that can be activated via CAN.
In the Golf IV, this could be activated via an external contact.
According to the wiring diagram, it's not possible on the Golf V because the auxiliary heater is connected via the CAN bus.
Does anyone here own a Golf V with a factory-installed auxiliary heater and can tell me what happens to the Climatronic when it's running?

What do you think about my plan?
Are there already IDs available for the Climatronic system in the Golf V?

Please provide the text you would like me to translate.

Thank you!

Regards,
Maxx.

Hello Hgruetti!

You have helped me a lot icon_biggrin.gif.

Finally, a glimmer of hope in my project icon_cool.gif.

I'm curious to see if my Climatronic control panel also includes the programming for the auxiliary heater.
In the worst-case scenario, I might have to buy a new control panel with SH functionality.

Hi.
I think it might be a bit more difficult. First of all, I drive a Golf V GTI with a built-in heater. icon_cool.gif

I got a SUBD book for the Fuchs interface.
installed underneath the climate control panel.
I am working with a HEX-CAN-usb ADAPTER through the diagnostic connector.
with VAGCOM software:

Okay, the auxiliary heater (auxiliary heating system) only works if the fuel tank is not on reserve.
Or the on-board voltage is too low, etc.
'Everything will be checked related to the CAN bus. Otherwise, the SH (likely referring to a specific vehicle system) won't even start, and a message will appear in the MFA (Multifunction Display)!'
Furthermore, the SH (likely referring to a heat exchanger or similar component) is also used as a pre-heater. This means that when the temperature is below 6 degrees Celsius, the coolant is heated first, and then the interior of the vehicle.
If you've upgraded to a SH system, you should have an electric auxiliary heater.
Can you read the parts list (component list) using VAGCOM?
Here's a small excerpt from my car.

Hi! icon_smile.gif

Well, I think the Climatronic system will be independent of the fuel level or the vehicle's on-board voltage.
I had a ThermoTop P retrofitted because my GT TSI could not be ordered with SH from the factory icon_sad.gif.

Basically, I just want the Climatronic system to switch to 'SH' mode and properly control the interior fan and temperature flaps.
I think (I hope) this should be solvable.

I will also mount a Sub-D socket somewhere for the Comfort-CAN interface.
That is a good idea icon_biggrin.gif.

I haven't purchased a HEX-CAN-USB yet, but I plan to do so in the future.

What do you think about my assumption regarding the Climatronic control panel?

Hi Maxx1278,
I think that's something you should definitely (carefully) try out icon_lol.gif.

However, I'm not sure if the start-up requirements for the SH (likely referring to a specific system or module) are handled within an SG (likely referring to a specific software component or module) like Clima or the vehicle's onboard network. The SG (presumably a component) is very small and directly connected to the SH (presumably another component).

For example, I had to set bit 3 in byte 19 of the onboard network data (address 09) to get rid of an error message.
'There's always someone in the forums saying 'ask your trusted friend' or something like that. Well, mine definitely failed me!'
Despite instructions from TeamDezent, you installed US-spec taillights on a Golf V.

Hello again.
Today, I paid attention to where the cars were parked.
Climatronic OFF
SH was set up using a remote control.
When I was about to leave, the CLIMA (climate control) was on, the temperature settings were already set, and the fan was running.
It wasn't cold enough to form frost.
icon_redface.gif This is all controlled by the battery, which is why there's monitoring in place. There are different levels where, step by step, everything that needs power is shut off. And if you, like me, don't have a VW radio that's also shut off via the CAN bus, the car will be warm but won't start anymore , so be careful. Otherwise, you'll get a nasty surprise.

Hi Hgruetti!

I hope that the starting conditions are monitored by the auxiliary heater.
It would be a bad thing if communication over the vehicle's internal network were handled by the engine control unit (ECU).
I can definitely imagine that the power shut-off due to undervoltage comes from the vehicle's onboard control unit.
The monitoring of the tank contents will likely be carried out by the SH itself.
I can only speculate, as I'm not familiar with that topic.

Regarding the qualities of a friendly person:
You can essentially get everything from them that can be achieved with 'guided troubleshooting.'
As soon as we start talking about the bytes and bits of control units, most people completely fail to understand.
I had a few things re-programmed when I picked up my new car.
I had to tell the icon_biggrin.gif exactly where he had to write things down.
Since the diagnostic device always requires a full byte to be written, I had to assist it with the conversion between hexadecimal and binary formats, etc.

Does anyone have the CAN bus control commands for the CAN bus auxiliary heater from Ardic, a subsidiary of Eberspächer, used in the A4 B6?

Jürgen.

Hello,
Can someone here tell me if my Climatronic control unit would understand the following CAN IDs from the auxiliary heater?

Excerpt from VCDS.

Address 08: Climate Control/Heating Module. Label file: 1K0-907-044.lbl
Part number SW: 1K0 907 044 DE

Revision: 00130023 Serial number: 00000000000000
Operating Number: WSC 00000 000 00000

No error codes found.

Do I need to perform any additional coding on the gateway or the climate control unit?

Hello Dennis,

Unfortunately, your control panel is not compatible with this device.
You may need one of the following part numbers:

1K0 907 044 BQ
1K0 907 044 CA
1K0 907 044 CS
1K0 907 044 DG

These control panels have a button for the auxiliary heater instead of the DUAL button.

However, control panels from the Passat 3C, Touran, and Golf Plus models may also be compatible.

Best regards,
Maxx.

Hello Maxx,

I probably completely missed this thread yesterday when I posted in the general section.

You've done exactly what I'm planning to do (except for the brand of headphones). Were you successful?

Best regards,
Stephan.

Hi Stephan,

I was successful to the extent that I sold the car again before it was repossessed icon_wink.gif.
Currently, I drive a Golf 5 GTI, and I've installed a genuine Webasto ThermoTop V heating system in it.
I bought the stuff used on **** and installed it in the car.
It was a nice job. Now, however, everything is working as it should icon_smile.gif.

Hi,

Thank you for the prompt reply! Unfortunately, your solution is not suitable for me icon_wink.gif.

Since I'm probably going to have to take the difficult path, and I'm actually quite excited about the challenge... Do you happen to have any other information that might be interesting to me, besides what's already here? I'm completely new to the topic of CAN (Controller Area Network) and would be grateful for any advice.

Regards,
Stephan.
