Hello everyone!
I'm new here and I find the forum very well-done and helpful, but the participation lately seems to have decreased somewhat, based on the dates... I would like to contribute to freshening things up .
I'm currently working on a large Excel spreadsheet, essentially creating a CAN communication matrix in a broader sense.
I'm talking about creating tables with all the CAN IDs, byte lengths, period durations, data contents, conversions, etc. I'm logging all the IDs from a Golf 5.
Who would be interested in expanding, reviewing, or supplementing my tables?
I've already gone through all the light switching.
I've been sitting in my very cold garage for weeks, logging data like crazy, but I'd be happy to share my knowledge...
Following the motto: 'Give and take.'
P.S. Hopefully, someone likes the idea, otherwise I'll just keep working on it myself.
Regards,
SeedMan.

Cool idea
I've also collected a whole bunch of data, which is right here.
We can definitely coordinate that.
Regards,
Maxx.

Hey guys.
I'd be happy to help, but why in an Excel spreadsheet? Let's create a proper CAN database right away.
Okay, so we have a DBC file.
Is there any freeware available for that?

Cool, two people have already shown interest .
I'll send you a private message with my table, and I hope we can work on it together and improve it.
My table is still a prototype and a bit 'rough'! This weekend, I will continue my research on the vehicle.
The more people who would participate here, the better it would be.
There are still several open issues in the table...
P.S. Maxx, we should create a versioning system for this and always include the most up-to-date version in the attachment. What do you think?
And always remember 'give and take' when it comes to information .

Well, I thought an Excel spreadsheet / Open Office spreadsheet would be more organized than a *.dbc file.
I also have a *.dbc editor available. I didn't want to use it just yet.
I am, however, open to being persuaded .

Hi.
Well, I think it's more sensible to use a DBC (Database Connector) because you can easily integrate it into various programs, and that makes the work more forward-looking.
Okay, good coordination, hehe.

Okay, then let's create a DBC.
But for now, I first want to assign all the CAN IDs to the respective control units, and there are still a few that are unassigned. Are you further along than me?
If we have that, then we can describe the dataframes using *.dbc files.
Best regards.
SeedMan.

Sounds pretty good for a collaborative project. Can the password be secured? Probably, right?
I agree with you, Seedman. Perhaps we should tackle the DBC issue later.

I think it's a simple solution to require the author to explicitly invite other editors.
I think it's better than immediately turning it into a DBC. Perhaps we could create a Sheet -> DBC converter that works with live data and always outputs an up-to-date DBC file.

Oops.
Is there a converter for this? Well, whatever, we'll see. Unfortunately, I can't contribute much myself right now because I don't have access to the necessary resources. However, I occasionally come across some information. I've already done a bit of comparison, but much of what I have is already included.
Good groundwork has already been done .

Which .DBC file are you referring to? Is it related to Visual FoxPro? Or the obscure alternative?
I've already written a DBC to MySQL converter myself, so it shouldn't be a problem to reverse the process.
Someone really needs to start creating a public table now, otherwise nothing will progress.

Please write to seedman; he was the one who started it all.
I think you're misunderstanding something right now. Or I don't quite understand.
Visual Fox Pro is a programming environment. A DBC file is a container for a database, and it is standardized. It has nothing to do with programming itself.

I was referring to the database files that VFP produces, not the environment itself. Unfortunately, there are many DBC files that contain database content. Sure, I will. Please provide the text.
Some games also use DBC files for their data.
Do you have a link to the DBC standard that you are referring to?http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/st4a0s68.aspx

Hehe
Hi darkside.
Just because a file has the abbreviation 'DBC' doesn't mean it's the same. That's all about your games.
Check out Vector; you might find some information there.

I never claimed that.
However, for every format that has an open specification, it is possible to create a converter.
Regardless, it's not really a big deal until someone actually starts working with Deutsche Bahn. Otherwise, I'll just start posting messages here.

I would suggest that someone with knowledge of DBC simply starts working on it.
Unfortunately, I cannot assist with that.
Best regards,
Maxx.

Hello.
Okay, I've created a table, but since it originates from Seedman, he naturally needs to give me permission to release it (because it would then be publicly available). Or we might have to restrict them to certain people.
Okay, Seed. I sent you the link. Let me know.
Best regards, Patrick.
