Good day!

I have a question about the CAN message IDs and how to best map them to process values. Here in the forum, there are various 'reports' on how some IDs could be identified through trial and error.

I have a Ford Focus (diesel, manufactured in 2005) and I've been using my PEAK CAN interface and a modified OBD2 connector to access data from my car (baud rate 500K). The result was a flood of data from various message IDs (see image).

Is there an existing database where one can find the mapping information?

Hi,

Try searching for the VW decoding or mapping information that's already circulating in the forum.
Ford utilizes many components from Volkswagen, and it's possible that their CAN bus systems are compatible.

(PS 500k is Motorcan)

Here's some information about Ford's HS-CAN (found somewhere on the internet and copied):

MSG ID 0x200:
Byte 1+2: Actual Torque.
3+4: Minimum torque.
5+6: maximum torque.
7: Engine flags
8: Driver requested output shaft torque.

MSG ID 0x201:
1+2: Engine speed in RPM.
3+4: Engine speed RPM R.O.C. (Does anyone know what R.O.C. stands for?)
5+6: Reserved.
7: Throttle position.
8: Throttle position (Rate of Change).

MSG ID 0x230:
1: Gear position
2+3: Gear ratio
4+5: Torque converter multiplication.
6+7: Transmission losses.
8: Transmission flags

MSG ID 0x420:
1: ETC
2: Pressure
3: Fuel flow (Resolution 0.000020833 gallons)
4: PRNDL
5+6: MIL Telltale / Overdrive / Safe cooling / PATS
7: Charging system status.
8: Engine Off elapsed time.

MSG ID 0x430:
1: Fuel % mean
2: Number of Sensors
3: Instantaneous fuel level.

Hello CANpeople, this is a nice and interesting board.



The results of my reverse engineering analysis (Ford Focus 2006) indicate that the value at memory address 0x4B0 provides the wheel speeds (2 bytes per wheel).
Does anyone know the address for the steering angle?

What does Ford call the coolant temperature in English, and what is the abbreviation used?
