Hello,
It's actually off-topic, but it does have something to do with CAN, so I'm posting it here.
I have a virtual Audi A4 B6 with a virtual instrument cluster (KI), RNS-E, and now a steering column control unit. With the CANUSB adapter, I can nicely log traffic data, and with a few tricks, I've also managed to get the FIS (multifunction display) working without errors. Now, I want to retrofit the steering column control unit J527 with FIS/wiper lever functionality, but I'm having a problem because I can't access J527 via OBD. The J527 is connected to the 30/31/CAN Comfort/CAN Drive, and the communication appears to be working correctly, as I can see via CAN whether, for example, the ignition is on.
The question is, is there anyone here who also uses an A4 B6 KI with FIS for testing and can tell me what I'm doing wrong or what's missing in order to access J527 via OBD?
Thank you and best regards,
Sure, here is the translation of the text from German to English:
'Dirk'

hello dirk,
According to the pinout, this device has...
Steering column control unit, no K-line detected. Try connecting via diagnostic CAN. Connect the CAN connectors from the VAG-Com cable.
pin6 -> can high
pin14 ---> can low
The diagnostic CAN bus is located on the instrument cluster, and it's connected via the green connector.
pin26 ---> CAN bus diagnostic fault (low level).
pin28 ---> CAN bus diagnostic high.
Then it should work.

I'll try it, even though my B6, according to the wiring diagram, doesn't yet have CAN diagnostics, and according to Theresia (obenobd.org), the instrument cluster (KI) should act as a gateway between the K-line and the comfort CAN on the LSG (likely referring to a specific module). But trying doesn't cost anything.

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I connected the CAN high/low lines from the OBD connector to the instrument cluster (IC), but the LSG (likely a specific module or function) is still not being found. Just to rule out any errors, I even swapped the CAN high/low lines on one side, but it still didn't work. My VAG-COM 607.3 with the HEX-CAN USB cable also doesn't detect the CAN bus when I run the port test (which is apparently normal for the B6 model).
Does anyone know if I can simply unplug the connector from my car's LSG (likely referring to a lighting system or similar) and plug it into my test LSG to configure it? Or does the steering angle sensor need to be recalibrated afterward?

Yes, the basic setting of the steering angle sensor is lost. To communicate with the steering column control unit, you need a comfort control unit. K-Line --> Comfort Steering Gate --> Steering Column Electronics.
Best regards.

Thank you for the tip. Okay, I'll start looking for a comfort control unit.
