Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I specifically signed up because an employee of my professor mentioned something about the CAN bus today, and I believe it was incorrect.
He stated today that the high-speed CAN bus has two lines for data transmission, while the low-speed CAN bus has only one line for data transmission.
To my knowledge, both Low Speed and High Speed CAN bus systems use two wires for data transmission.
While the Low Speed CAN bus is designed to be single-wire capable, it still uses two wires, or am I mistaken?

Thank you in advance icon_biggrin.gif.

Best regards.
PHILIPP

The bus level design allows for the Low Speed CAN to be implemented as a "single-wire" CAN.

Depending on the requirements for the CAN bus, it can also be implemented using only one wire. This saves a wire. Then you have something in between LIN and CAN.

Thank you for the response.
Yes, is this single-wire system also used in cars, or is it not actually used in practice?

Sincerely,
Philipp.

It is practically no longer used today because its baud rate is too low compared to CAN, and its cost advantage over LIN is minimal.

Okay, thank you for the answers.

Sure, here's the translation:

"MFG" is an abbreviation for "Mit freundlichen Grüßen," which translates to "Sincerely" or "Best regards" in English.
