KCANMonitor: Log Storage and Message Sending

I have two questions, and I couldn't find the answers to them by searching the forum.

"I logged data on the CAN bus and found a large number of messages in the Trace + Monitor tool. I want to save these messages, so I select 'File,' then 'Save as,' and a file is created. However, this file is only 1kB in size and contains very little data. When I open the file, the Trace + Monitor window opens, but it's empty."
Is it not possible to save logs?

2.) If saving logs works, can these logs be sent directly to the bus, or do I have to enter each message individually under "Send + Replay"?

Hello Christian,

With KCANMonitor, you can load and save two types of files:
- the respective connection settings.
- Recorded CAN logs.

The recorded CAN logs are simple text files, and you can view them with any text editor.
You can import these text files into the message sending window. This means you don't have to recreate each message you want to send.

I'm somehow too stupid to figure this out. When I want to save it, it always wants to save it as a *.clg file and not as a *.txt file.

With all this experimenting, my CAN log is now gone .

I saved it as a PDF beforehand, which I managed to do .

You save the CAN messages using the button in the monitor view and import them using the button in your screenshot.

The screenshot might be a bit misleading, because I was using the Trace and Monitor views during my attempts.

I managed to import it. I downloaded a log file from this forum and added it using "Import Frame List," which was easy.

I'm going to take another look; it really shouldn't be that difficult .

The button wasn't there a moment ago .
Sometimes things can be so simple. I completely ignored these buttons because the floppy disk and the File->Save menu were just so appealing.
