Hello everyone in the forum community,

As a newcomer to the 'CAN-Bus' field, I'm looking for answers to the question of how I can use my hardware (NI PCMCIA CAN interface card + OBDII adapter to connect to a PC, SEAT Alhambra, year 2013) to 'listen' to data from the CAN-Bus at the OBDII interface. Unfortunately, all my previous attempts have been unsuccessful; I haven't been able to 'listen' to any signals on the bus, no matter what baud rates I've tried!
Does the CAN bus perhaps need to be 'stimulated' before I can 'listen' to it, or am I possibly doing something completely wrong?

I would be very grateful for any advice or suggestions.

Greetings from the newbie...

Hello,

Without sending anything, you will not receive any response or message from the OBD2 port.

If you want to directly listen to what's happening on the bus, you need to connect to one of the internal buses (e.g., powertrain, infotainment, etc.) by plugging into a device like the gateway control unit.

CAN infotainment should also be located at the rear of the radio.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hello,

Thank you for the response.
I am primarily interested in signals from the engine (engine speed, engine load, etc.) and things like vehicle speed.
They probably won't be located on the infotainment system, right?

Thank you and greetings.
