CAN bus "dead"... Is recovery possible?

Hello,

My name is Thomas, and despite many years of tinkering, I'm stuck on a CAN bus problem.

Der Dodge Nitro eines Bekannten ist urplötzlich ausgegangen. Fehlerauslesen zeigte Kommunikationsverlust des CAN-Busses zum ABS, Motor- und Getriebesteuerrät. Da die TIPMs (Total Integrated Power Modul) bekannt für Fehler sind, wurde ein anderes (gebrauchtes) eingebaut. Motor lief wieder, alle Steuergeräte ansprechbar... Freude war groß! Nach zwei Tagen und 100 km ging der Motor im Stand wieder aus. ErWhile the TIPM (Transmission Control Module) can be read using the diagnostic tool, the rest of the control units are not accessible.

What is the best approach to locate the error? In my previous attempt with the first TIPM, I only connected the engine control unit (ECU) to the TIPM using a separate CAN bus line. However, even with that setup, I was unable to establish a connection.

Hello,

I would carefully inspect the wiring harness for any signs of abrasion or other damage.

If things go wrong, something else might be damaged or gnawed on by rodents in a completely different location, and wires could experience voltages they shouldn't.

Also check the fuses as well; they might look okay at first glance, but could be broken internally.

Um mir diese sehr aufwendige Arbeit erst mal zu ersparen, hatte ich einen "kurzen" CAN-Bus mittels fliegender Leitung vom TIPM zum Motorsteuergerät (PCM) aufgebaut: OBD-Buchse -> TIPM -> PCM. Keine anderen Steuergeräte waren angeschlossen. Am Fehlerbild änderte es nichts. Zugriff auf das PCM war weiterhin nicht möglich. Theoretisch sollte er es aber, oder? Die 50:50-Frage, TIPM oder PCM defekt, habe ich dann mit TIPM beantwortet, da ein passendes in den USA zu bekommen war. MIt was only meant to last for a short time anyway.
