Hello.
Can someone provide me with more detailed information about the function and networking of the parking sensors?
I'm working on an Opel myself and want to retrieve some data, but as far as I know, it's connected via LIN.
Sure, here's the translation:

'Best regards.'
Patrick.

I can only provide information about Volkswagen.
I installed the 8-channel PDC (Parking Distance Control) system from a Golf VI / Passat in my car.
The wiring is set up in a way that each sensor is connected individually to the control unit.
According to that, it probably isn't a LIN bus.

Best regards,
Maxx.

Yes, after doing a little reading, it seems that the control unit directly receives the sensor values.

Does this control unit transmit data to the CAN bus? Perhaps even distance values?

The background is that I want to have some control over it.

Yes, that thing sends a telegram to the bus, which contains all the distance information.

Hi.
I was actually thinking the same thing. But just as background information, for which participant would this be relevant? Only if it has something like a rear-view camera installed, right? Who else might be able to do something with this information?

P.S.: Did I understand correctly that you installed them later?
Sure, here's the translation:

'LG' translates to 'Best regards' or 'Sincerely' in English.

Hi Patrick,

Yes, I installed the PDC later.
In my Golf, there is a recipient for telegrams icon_smile.gif.

D
'a' is now just an obstacle in front of the car.
However, the sensors are also located at the rear.

hi.
Yes, exactly for something like that. That's what I meant.
Thank you very much for that.

Now I just need to take another look to see how it differs in the Opel.
Sure, here's the translation:

'lg' is a German abbreviation that stands for 'liebe Grüße,' which translates to 'best regards' or 'warm greetings' in English.

Post22-07-2025, 6:29    Subject: Audi A3 8P - PDC Sensors - Importance of CAN ID and Reading Values Quote

Hello, I have an A3 8P Sportback from 2009 (same platform as the Golf V) with only rear parking sensors and not much other equipment. It originally had the basic "Concert" radio (with 4 speakers). Now, an Android navigation system is installed, and I was hoping that it could visually display the parking sensor readings. Unfortunately, I can't.
Now, I wanted to see if it's possible to read the values on the CAN bus. CAN interface and software are available, but the skills are somewhat limited.
Does anyone have any tips on which IDs can be used to read/calculate the PDC standby status and values/distances?
Is there perhaps a general overview of the CAN IDs, where one can find information about speed, temperature, etc.?
Thank you icon_smile_thumb_up.gif.
