CAN codes for tail lights and hazard lights

I want to read the status of the rear fog light (status of the light switch) and the hazard warning lights from the comfort CAN bus in my Golf V, manufactured in 2007. Does anyone know the CAN codes for these functions and their meanings?

'Thank you for the information. According to my documentation, this message consists of 5 bytes; byte 0 contains information about whether reverse gear is engaged or not, and byte 1 contains door status information, so the relevant data should be in bytes 2 through 4. 0x470 consists of 8 bytes.
Byte 1:
Bit 0: Left turn signal.
Bit 1: Right turn signal.
Bit 2: Trailer.
Bit 3: Hazard lights <------------
Bit 4: DWA battery.
Bit 5: Reverse light.
Bit 6: Some kind of error.
Bit 7: Charging indicator light.

Byte 6:
Bit 0: Parking light.
Bit 1: Left turn signal light.
Bit 2: Right turn signal light.
Bit 3: Low beam headlight.
Bit 4: Front fog light.

Byte 8:
Bit 5: Fog rear light <------------

Okay, I've tested it now.

Message 0x470 brings the following values in the lower 4 bytes:

If the ignition is off and the light switch is off.

0x00000000

Ignition on:

0x003E0000

Turn on with ignition and turn on lights.

0x003E0080

Turn the ignition on, turn on the lights, and engage reverse gear.

0x003E00A0

The reverse gear is likely encoded in bit 6 of byte 1 (bit 5/byte 0), which aligns with the information provided by Givertech.

The value of 3E varies; sometimes it's 3C, then 3D, and then back to 3E.

I couldn't detect any change when the hazard lights were activated.

Even when the turn signals are activated, nothing changes.

The upper 4 bytes were more successful.

The rear fog light is coded, but nothing else.

The value 0x00000000 changes when the fog light is turned on.

0x00000020 is encoded in bit 6 of byte 5 (bit 5 of byte 4 when counting from 0).

While your information aligns with Givertech's, I have it recorded differently, specifically in a different byte. Perhaps there are two versions of message 470: one with a length of 5 bytes and another with a length of 8 bytes.

Nothing changes in the remaining bytes (at least when operating the doors, lights, or turn signals).

I am currently building a CAN 'sniffer' and 'injector' as hardware and want to evaluate it using an Android tablet.

'I would like to display climate information and navigation instructions from the tablet on the dashboard.'

'Now I'm wondering where you get all the information regarding IDs and bytes. Is there a database for that?'
- Since my car is a 2012 Volkswagen Golf 6, are the codes/IDs from the Golf 5 also compatible with the Golf 6?
- Next week, my VCDS diagnostic tool will be delivered. Does it allow for reading IDs and other data?

1) Yes, there is a database, but it is not publicly accessible.
So, all that remains for you to do is connect the CAN interface and try to figure out the required IDs yourself. If you are looking for a specific ID, feel free to ask here, and someone will be happy to help you

3) You won't be able to directly read the IDs here. However, it can be helpful for identifying specific 'as is' values in the CAN logs. With a little practice, the logs will suffice .

This 'non-public' database... What do you need to do to gain access to it?

Which CAN interface would you recommend? I'm planning to build my own system based on an Atmega microcontroller, implement a filter within it, and transmit selected information via Bluetooth SPP.
