Hi,

'First of all, I apologize for my not-so-perfect English; I am Italian.'

'I'm working on a steering wheel interface for my Megane 3 from 2009.'

I'm unable to establish a connection between the steering wheel controls and the radio via the CAN bus.

Does anyone have any helpful information? Like CAN IDs, for example?

"Why are you trying to find a connection between the steering system and the radio?"
"I'm sure your radio has a CAN bus (if not, then why would you need a CAN bus for the radio?). Your steering control module definitely has a CAN bus."

If you are looking for a CAN bus connection, use the OBDII connector: connect to pin 6 for CAN High and pin 14 for CAN Low.

In all renault cars all CANs goes to OBD (if they have more then one, of course, sorry if i'm wrong, with french cars i dont have very big experience). Okay, here's the translation:

"Connect with them there."

What exactly are you looking for in the CAN bus? Maybe I can help you icon_wink.gif.

Hi!

'I'm trying to access the CAN bus because I want to control a car PC using the steering wheel controls.'

The radio has two channels: Multimedia and Multiplexing.

'Multimedia connects the radio with the navigation system, and a multiplexer connects the radio to the navigation control located near the handbrake.'

This is a diagram (low quality, apologies).

My question is: Why doesn't the radio have a direct CAN line connection to the OBD gateway? How does it receive commands from the steering wheel?

'There is no wiring for this function...'

Some Renault cars use dual protocols for their audio systems. CANBUS is utilized not only for ignition switching (KL15) but also for functions like radio face illumination and speed pulse signals.

For the steering wheel functions, a resistive protocol is used.

"Perhaps this is the system installed in your car."

'Is there a resource where I can find the PIDs (Packet Identifiers) for radio signals, such as CAN IDs?'
