Hello everyone,

Now that I have finally finished my exams, I can get back to working with the CAN bus icon_biggrin.gif.

Okay, here's my question. I and a friend have tried countless times to access the FIS (Facility Interface System) in a Golf 4 speedometer to output data from it.
If anyone knows how to 'activate' the FIS system so I can write data into it, that would be a great help.
It would be best to have a description of the IDs and their corresponding values. Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Mario

Looks good... unfortunately, I haven't found a way yet to control the middle section of the TT... but the top part is working fine.
How do you control the display... I mean, with which software?

'Program? That's a microcontroller with software that I wrote.'

Audi uses a simpler protocol than Volkswagen. Therefore, I can't provide you with any information about controlling Audi vehicles.

At VW, there's a significant amount of overhead data that needs to be transmitted with the correct timing.

Hi,

'@svenni, we've also figured out that VW uses a kind of dialogue and timing with the FIS (presumably referring to a specific system or feature). Unfortunately, we haven't been able to precisely replicate it yet.'
It would be great if you could help us and tell us which IDs are involved in the initialization process.
Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Mario

'@svenni: Did I understand correctly that you have a microcontroller connected to the CAN bus, which you then programmed accordingly? How do you control the display?'
Or is the microcontroller controlled via a PC (running additional software), and then a CAN adapter is accessed?

Yes, that's correct. The operation is the same as before, using the switches on the wiper lever, and the information is available on the CAN icon_wink.gif.

As a fun extra, I'm putting together a small industrial PC that will display an image on the navigation screen. It will be controlled using the navigation buttons. The PC will then communicate with the microcontroller and request specific data. This allows you to display all sorts of information and perform various measurements.
