Hello everyone,
I'm new here and don't know my way around very well. But I wanted to learn more about the CAN bus system and understand a bit better what's going on inside my car.
That's why my colleague and I built an adapter to tap into the CAN-HIGH and CAN-LOW signals from the bus. I have read and understood the explanations of the CAN bus system, at least to a certain extent.
Here are some results from all the numerical calculations.
ID | Length | Hex Code
038A 4 74 00 74 00
0572 1 03
0550 3 00 00 00
04A8 8 00 C0 00 10 00 00 60 B0
0280 8 09 1A 8A 0D 1B 00 1D 18
0288 8 E4 5C F0 00 00 50 D9 07
0380 8 00 5A 00 00 00 FE 0C
0480 8 54 20 28 0E 00 00 02 50
0588 8 F0 93 78 80 00 00 00 00
0050 4 00 00 70 70
05E0 8 20 00 18 00 00 00 00 00
01A0 8 00 07 00 00 FE FE 00 98
05A0 8 00 00 00 00 00 27 08 AB
04A0 8 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
02A0 8 00 00 00 00 00 00 80 80
01AC 8 64 07 00 00 69 21 FA D1
My colleague explained to me that each ID originates from a control unit and that in the hexadecimal code, it represents some kind of measurement or similar value. Did I understand that correctly?
How do I know which control unit is sending which IDs and what the code means?
Is there a 'translation list' or something like that available, or is it a closely guarded secret of the manufacturers?
I'd be happy to provide an explanation.

The translation list is generally called a communication matrix and is considered a closely guarded secret by the manufacturer.
Now you need to try and figure out what each signal means, how it's encoded, and where it appears in the message, just like Sherlock Holmes. If you're lucky, someone else in this forum may have already looked into it and can identify some of the signals and their encoding.

Yes, some IDs are likely to be found here, just search!

Thank you for the answers.
Yes, some IDs are likely to be found here, just search!
Unfortunately, the search function didn't return anything except for my own post!
Maybe I just searched for it incorrectly.
It seems like I have to continue searching on my own.
