Hello, I'm new here.

I'm currently planning a small project where I want to use a Raspberry Pi or similar device as a carputer. I primarily want to display data on the large screen via video, but I would also like to utilize the FIS (driver information system). However, I haven't found anything conclusive about whether a CAN bus system is still used here, as was the case in previous versions.

Furthermore, I would also like the Raspberry Pi to respond to the buttons on the MMI (Multi Media Interface) and steering wheel.

Does anyone have any information about this?

The vehicle no longer has an infotainment CAN bus in the traditional sense.
The MMI is connected to the gateway via MOST (MOST ring).
Connect the AI to the gateway via CAN.
If you want to send something to the AI, there needs to be another gateway between the AI and the first gateway, which relays everything from both sides and modifies the data from the two upper lines if necessary.
The MMI control unit is connected to the MMI via a serial connection, with the initial MMI3G using 9600 Baud, the next version using 19200 Baud, and only with MIB is there a private CAN bus.
Checking the control panel is very simple; I once created a complete list of commands for it, but unfortunately, I can't find it anymore; it's been 7 years icon_confused.gif.
Your plan is feasible, but it will also be complex and time-consuming.

Sure, you're welcome. Okay, I'll add that topic to the FIS documentation, but I'll put it at the end for now.

Do you know where the serial SST connection is located? Is it a pin on the Quadlock connector? Do the steering wheel buttons (the ones relevant for the MMI) also run through the serial interface, or do they use the MOST bus?

Yes, the serial connection is located at the Quadlock connector (E380), the steering wheel buttons are connected via the LIN bus to the steering column control unit, and from there via CAN to the gateway, and then via MOST to the head unit.

I just found a scan from back then, showing what it was like with the A6FL.
