RNS-E: Play Videos While Driving?

I'm going to start a new topic now, hoping to find like-minded people.

For several weeks, I have been working on the topic of CarPCs and RNS-E systems. After some initial difficulties, I am now able to connect any PC to the RNS-E using a VGA-RGB adapter, and with the help of Fuchs' CANUSB adapter and another adapter called 'CANGate,' I can also easily control cPOS through the RNS-E. The audio output is routed through the RNS-E and the Bose system in the car, and the screen automatically dims depending on the brightness, and overall, the project was progressing very promisingly. This continued until the point where I went from my desk to the car and made my first attempts.

It quickly became clear that a carPC wouldn't be useful without video in motion, as the image disappears at around 5 km/h. Attempts to filter out the speed signal using standard hardware adapters also didn't yield satisfactory results. So, I did some research and got in touch with people who claimed to know how to do it.

It's unbelievable what you hear sometimes. Most people promise the moon and stars, but they don't really know what they're talking about. Others may have the knowledge, but they don't take action – either because they're afraid of losing money or for other reasons.

Basically, there seem to be two possible solutions:
- The hardware adapter, which is always a CAN filter in the RNS-E system, filters out messages that communicate speed information to the navigation system, either manually via a switch or automatically. This solution doesn't work for me because the navigation system is only usable with GPS in my area.
- The software solution, which is only offered by several sellers in Germany via **** and other sources, is highly dependent on the specific vehicle and the software version of the RNS-E system, and should not be considered a universally functioning solution.

Therefore, I'm starting to experiment to see if there might still be a solution that can be used with a CANUSB adapter or simple coding via VAG-COM to display a video image while driving.

As I said, activating the TV input is simple, and connecting a PC to the RNS-E isn't a problem either.
Controlling the cPOS via CAN works perfectly well, but 'Video in Motion' is a showstopper for this project.

So, if there's anyone else out there who has an Audi with the RNS-E and wants to do more than just listen to MP3 files from an SD card, maybe we can team up. Unfortunately, I don't have extensive programming knowledge, and since I don't live in Germany, I can't go to one of the mechanics and have my navigation system unlocked. Through trial and error, I've managed to figure out the security login, but I don't know how to properly use it. Also, there are only 10 channels left that I don't know what they do when changed using VAG-COM. But there are still enough possibilities that experimenting alone would be very time-consuming.

Perhaps one of you has already done something similar or has experience in this area and is willing to share their thoughts and experiences.

Even though the topic is old, here's a small addition:
Currently, there is a 'Video in Motion' hack available for the RNS-E. This can be downloaded from <!-- w --><a class='postlink' href='http://www.naviedit.de'>www.naviedit.de</a><!-- w -->, which unlocks VIM on the RNS-E. I don't know if this tool is the 'software solution' mentioned above, or if it's something else entirely.

Since I'm likely to face the same problem soon, I will familiarize myself with the issue and then share my findings here.
