Hello everyone,

I have a Dietz CanBus adapter, Blue Generation, for my Astra H. Unfortunately, it stopped working last week. It no longer provides power to the ignition.
Okay, I've opened up the small electronic device, and it's full of surface-mount components. But without a schematic diagram, I'm not even going to start trying to figure it out.

Greetings,
Frank.Greetings to you all,

Hello Frank,

Perhaps you could take a high-resolution picture of it and post it online here?

würWould you dare to try repairing the adapter? If so, where's the best place to start? What component usually fails first when something like this breaks?

I can't say for sure at the moment whether the other signal lines of the adapter are still working.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hello Frank,

'Because if the MOSFET has a short circuit between the drain and source, the ignition signal should always be present at the output, but the fuse wouldn't blow. And if it's high-resistance, almost all the voltage drops across the FET, and very little comes out at the output (which would explain the 2V), but again, the fuse wouldn't blow.

Could you please remove this component from the circuit board, or simply disconnect the ignition output and light output wires from the connector, and then connect the interface. Then, measure at pin 4 of the MOSFET connector (the pin on the far left, next to the resistor) to see if there's a control signal at the gate when you turn the ignition on and off. If you don't measure a signal there, then measure at the upper transistor, to the right of the MOSFET, at the pin on the bottom right, to see if the control signal from the controller is present.

hi hello,

danke für deine antwort.
'I can only explain the issue with the fuse in a very basic way: there must have been a short circuit in the CAN bus adapter.
But I don't have a really plausible explanation for it. It's just a fact.
I'm going to take the components out and try to analyze them. I thought maybe there are input or output protection diodes in the circuit that might have blown. That's why a circuit diagram would be interesting, but it's probably not available for such an adapter. An alternative would be reference circuit diagrams from the component manufacturers.
I'll try to look into it in the next few days and report back.

Thank you very much, and have a good weekend.
Best regards,

I'm going to take the components apart and try to analyze them. I thought maybe there are input or output protection diodes in the circuit that have failed. Hi Frank,

wie lange hattest du den Adapter verbaut?
Which radio did you turn on using the adapter? Did you connect more devices to the accessory output of the Dietz adapter besides just the radio?

Greetings.
Benjamin.

hello,

Sorry for the late reply on this topic, but the repair failed because the FDS4953 is unavailable for purchase anywhere. It's a shame, really...

Hello,

Even though that specific dual p-channel MOSFET is no longer available, I can't imagine that there aren't any alternatives to it.

Take a look at this:

Okay, can someone perhaps help me identify the SMD components here again?
Number 1 is the well-known MOSFET, the FDS4953.
Can someone please tell me what numbers 2 through 5 refer to?
Thank you very much.

Best regards,
Frank.

Hello,

The CAN transceiver is the TJA1040 from NXP.
For the rest, please refer to this: http://www.s-manuals.com/smd

Greetings.
