Hi there,
Hopefully, I'm in the right section of this forum.
I've recently (and somewhat reluctantly) started looking into the CAN bus system because my car (a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.6) is having some issues.
There are various Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) that originate from the CAN bus system, such as "Radio CAN down" or simply "CAN down," etc.
When I examine the signals at the OBD connector using a diagnostic scan tool (DSO), it becomes clear how these Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) arise, as the same pattern applies to all the wires connected there.
I'm not quite sure what the error message means.
I find the varying amplitude of the CAN low signal for a data block while the engine is running difficult to understand.
When the ignition is turned on, everything seems to be okay.
My primary goal is to understand the nature of the error, and then we might be able to hypothesize:
- Cable issue.
- Plug problem.
- Module defective.
and go to the search function.
I suspect a faulty module, as the varying amplitude always occurs with each data block.
I wouldn't suspect a CAN bus low resistance problem (cable/connector) in this case.
Have you ever seen an error message like this before?
Thank you very much in advance for your efforts.
Best regards from the city with the iconic "Millionengrab" landmark.
Andreas.
