Dear users,
My problem:
I have a Golf Plus, manufactured in 2008, with GRA (automatic transmission) and MFL (multifunction leather steering wheel).
Since I can no longer move my left arm due to a brain hemorrhage, I have to awkwardly use my right hand to operate the turn signal. Wouldn't it be possible to reprogram the keys on the MFL so that they blink?
Ross Tech (VCDS) with software version 17 and a USB dongle is available.
It would be great if you could help me.
Best regards,
Nowi.

Hello Nowi,
Since you can't simply flash a suitable software onto the steering column control unit, your plan would be a makeshift solution.
A mechanical solution, such as using a string or a lever system to move something to the right, would be more promising in this case.
If your brain bleed hasn't happened too long ago, you should take advantage of your brain's plasticity to transfer control of the left side to other areas of your brain, specifically through consistent and repeated passive and active movement of the affected areas. This should ideally start as early as possible, as neural plasticity tends to decrease over time. In the medium term, within a timeframe of months to years, I believe this is very useful and, above all, promising.
Best regards, Rainer.

Just try reading the command from the turn signal, then the command from the MFL (multifunction leather) button.
Now, you send the command that the turn signal would send, and then, when the MFL button is pressed.

And the turn signal then generates Bus Off errors, because that's simply not how the CAN bus works.
In a network with NM, the ID of a CAN message is always associated with a specific sender (except for TP), so that error handling mechanisms can be triggered. A gateway would be helpful here, as it could physically disconnect the bus and then route the manipulated frames towards the vehicle.
