Auxiliary Heater (Entertainment Bus):
521#0100000000000000 On
521#1A00000000000000 Off
These codes need some additional testing, but they seem to be working.
Did anyone figure out what bytes 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 could represent?
Okay, I understand. Please provide the German text you want me to translate.
521#0100000000006A20 On
521#1A00000400FA6E28 Off

Okay, here's the translation:
"Great! The details of the 521h seem to be correct." The temperature calculation using byte 7 also yields accurate cooling water temperatures.

My German isn't great: does the XLSX file contain ID and byte information about the J386/J387 Door Control Units (which are connected to the Convenience CAN-bus)?
I found these codes on this forum, but my car isn't responding to them.
// Front Left Glass Up
181#0200
// Front left window down.
181#0800
// Front Right Glass Up
181#2000
// Front right window down.
181#8000
This weekend, I'm going to try to reverse engineer the code that controls Windows. Will report back when found
Regards,
Chris

Hi,
Just increase the size of the column header line in the sheet, and you will be able to see the English descriptions of the columns.
Best regards,
Rainer

Did you manage to enable the headlights on the MQB platform?
When I send the following codes (which I intercepted), the headlights flash once each time I send them. If I remove one of the two codes, nothing happens.
3C0#74000300
658#0070040000000200
It seems there's another module that's repeating other commands, causing my code to only make the headlights flash very briefly, like a camera flash (they are LED headlights).
Okay, I've tried to enable the headlights using the VCDS plug from RossTech, but I can't seem to find the option to enable the headlights through OBD. The idea was to extract the codes from the VCDS plug and use them to enable the headlights.

Chris |

In more advanced cars, such as the Passat B8 and Golf VII, the steering wheel ECU communicates with the Body Control Module (BCM) via the CAN bus. This allows you to control functions like turn signals and high beams. But you should maintain accurate timing, counters, and checksums.
To enable headlights using VCDS, you can try the following:
Go to the BCM module.
Output test;
Choose the light you need.
Press start.
Check the CAN bus, and you will see how easy it is to control this.
BUT! It only works with the ignition on.
P.S.: In output tests, you can find more interesting things, not just lights .

Daytime running lights can be deactivated using this output test.

I sniffed the bus traffic while running an output test and then filtered it.
The log is attached. Next step: interpret the commands

I would propose creating printouts of the "Message Changes View" in KCANMonitor and then overlaying the paper sheets on top of each other.
One sheet printed with "Auxiliary Heater: On" and one with "Auxiliary Heater: Off".
You should identify which bytes are different and be able to focus your work on those specific bytes.
Best regards,
Rainer

Thank you for your response: the heater can be controlled now . At the moment, I am trying to control the headlights when the car is parked and off.

It's quite easy  .
If I remember correctly...
0x700 - keep session alive.
0x70E - tested ID
0x778 - BCM ID.
Output control is working with command 0x2F.
Basically, you need to send periodic messages, open a diagnostic session, and control the output. Check the log files, analyze what each CAN message does, and you will understand how easy it is.
But as I said, it only works if the ignition is on.
You can find more information about message structure and related topics by searching on Google for "ISO14429". Or simply UDS diagnostics.
Sure, here's the translation:
"Brief information about commands:"
https://automotive.wiki/index.php/ISO_14229
