For emergency vehicles, taxis, special vehicles, etc., Mercedes-Benz (as well as many other manufacturers) offers the CIA 447 CAN interface.

Why would a manufacturer choose such a bitrate? Couldn't they simply use 100 kbit? Especially, it seems like a lot is happening on this interior section, as the log shows. |
Just wait until CAN FD is implemented in vehicles; then things will really get interesting. Everything else is just child's play.

CAN FD is not more complex than CAN 2.0b. In the controller settings, the second baud rate is simply configured, and that's it.
The baud rate switch, DLC (Data Link Control), etc., are then automatically handled by the protocol, and the "ISO/NonISO" issue is no longer a real problem, as no one uses NonISO anymore.

@ postmann, if the second baud rate is the same for everyone now, then it's really not that complicated. But I suspect that everyone here is playing their own game, trying not to reveal their hand.

It's not inherently a fixed value; otherwise, there would be no need for CAN FD. The CAN FD configuration depends on factors such as the network size (number of nodes), network length (reflection), and bus load. Typically, it's set to 250/500, 500/1000, or 500/2000 kbit/s. Then, it is possible to send up to 64 bytes of data packets.

I would also like to know where the ignition signal is located on the Vito/Viano.

Does anyone know the ignition ID for the Sprinter/Vito/Viano (W9x6)?
