Hello.
'In modern vehicles, exhaust emissions are only measured via the diagnostic port. As far as I know, this is now standardized. Does anyone perhaps know which identifiers (and what they represent) are used for what, or does someone have more detailed information about the standard?'

'Thank you.'

Starting in 2010, exhaust emission tests for vehicles first registered after 2006 will only be performed according to guideline 4. This document defines all the parameters required for the emission test. All communication is exclusively via the OBD-2 interface. Requests are sent to the functional address or ID $7DF. The content addressed in guideline 4 is described in SAE J1979.

Hello p.ostrich,

The topic is now over a year old, but for the sake of completeness, I'll add some more information to it. icon_wink.gif
The CARB specifies several 'modes' for standardized diagnostics, and within these modes, Parameter IDs (PIDs) are defined. To request current measurement values, you would request Mode 1, and then specify the desired measurement value using the PID.

However, each individual control unit supports different PIDs, and only a few from the list. It's also understandable that the transmission doesn't know anything about the exhaust temperature.

Good luck!
Sven.
