CarPC: Audi RNSD Replacement & FIS Issues

Hello,

I'm new here and interested in learning more about the CAN bus system.

I would like to exchange my RNSD for a car PC, but I'm mainly interested in the FIS (driver information system).
The FIS (presumably a car's information display system) should ideally remain functional as before, with features like navigation display, radio station indicators, MP3 playback, etc., possibly even with additional functions. I already have a modified Ford radio for the car PC.
Has anyone possibly already simulated the FIS functions on a combination instrument?

What is feasible, and can it be simulated?

I would also be interested in a USB CAN interface.

Within certain limits, this is feasible.

Problems that may arise:
- Knowledge of the CAN matrix is required (what information must be sent to the instrument cluster for it to display something - manufacturers who profit from this understandably keep it a secret, and information available online is often incomplete).
- You will need to program the news feed integration yourself.
- You first need to extract the information you want to display from the programs used on your computer.
