I am looking for the correct bitrate for the Mercedes Sprinter model W906.
'Sniffing with CAN Monitor Pro 1.1 from Lawicel has so far been unsuccessful - no messages are being received. Only at 250kBit did the device exhibit some strange behavior. However, the connection seems to be okay, at the 8-pin connector.' Car radio ISO connector: Pin 6 = CAN-H, and Pin 7 = CAN-L.

Ultimately, I'm looking for the ID for the status of terminal 15 and the mileage.

Test with 83.33 kbit.

Thank you for the tip. This certainly aligns with that statement:
2.0. CAN bus systems, top.

The complexity of the control system is evident in the way the engine control unit (ECU) ME is interconnected with many other control units via the CAN data bus (Controller Area Network, see tip 29.7 CANBUS), which consists of a two-wire data line (CAN-LOW and CAN-HIGH). There are two CAN bus systems: a fast engine data bus (CAN-C, 500 Kbit/s) and a slower one for the vehicle interior (CAN-B, 83.3 Kbit/s). Both bus systems are connected to each other via an interface (gateway), and the Electronic Ignition Switch (EZS) control unit (N73).

Thank you in advance, and I'll try this out now...

Bullseye. It worked with 83.33 kbit/s. I recently read somewhere that Mercedes doesn't use 'odd' bit rates. Thank you for the tip.

It's skewed in terms of the standard bit rates that you can set in CAN Monitor Pro. For the ~83 kBit rate, you have to manually enter the values for BTR0/1, which I only figured out thanks to this forum... Respect and thank you very much.

Why would a manufacturer choose such a bitrate? Couldn't they simply use 100 kbit? Apparently, quite a bit is happening on this spacecraft, as the logs indicate.

By the way, the CAN-Monitor Pro seems to have a significant drawback: it doesn't provide a static 'process overview,' but rather the data streams by rapidly, and you can only analyze it by examining the log file. That's why it's a bit difficult to decipher the data now, especially since the whole process is happening remotely, meaning the vehicle and the CAN bus monitor are 500 km apart.

Does anyone know of any software that also works with the Lawicel CANUSB and offers the 'persistent process image' feature? I personally have the CAN Hacker, and it does a good job of doing that by disabling the tracer.

My computer is working. So, when I enter '09be07' into the can tool, my MB Command 2.0 navigation system runs without any problems.

Best regards.

Okay, I'm going to try it with this setting. (16Tq)

83,000 kbit/s @ 40 MHz on a PIC18FXXX microcontroller with CAN functionality.
Error: -0.402% (Actual Baud Rate is 83,333333 kbps)

Register | Binary | Hexadecimal
CNF1/BRGCON1: b'00001110', 0x0E
CNF2/BRGCON2: '10111000' (0xB8)
CNF3/BRGCON3: '00000101', 0x05.

The timing error cannot be fixed, which is why I said the calculator 'goes on strike,' but it would be better to say that it 'remains silent' and offers no suggestions; the grid remains 'gray.' You can choose for yourself, but you'll just have to live with a small imperfection.

With this CAN bitrate, I haven't been able to find a commercially available crystal oscillator that can be used to fix the issue. Therefore, I will stick with my quote 'crooked bitrate' icon_wink.gif.

I still think it will work, though. I have now been able to reproduce the byte sequence 09be07 mentioned by rathma, but he is using 24Tq.

I've now figured out where the ignition signal and the vehicle identification number are located.
Interested parties, please inquire.

Hello Rainer,

I am a vehicle outfitter specializing in emergency vehicles... so, in general, it already serves a good purpose icon_wink.gif.

I've already read quite a bit, but nothing too complex. Primarily Ford Custom, Crafter, Sprinter, etc.
Stop everything that is used as an emergency vehicle. However, it also includes more static states such as doors, handbrake, turn signals, reverse gear, etc.

I'm here in the forum to find out how to add more functionality to an emergency vehicle. Therefore, the general question is:
I understand your subtle sarcasm... that's why I'm now providing this extensive statement. icon_smile.gif
I hope you understand my intention.

Best regards,

Hi,

It really depends on the specific project and the number of hours involved, but it's all within the usual range. Of course, more complex tasks (requiring more hours) are ultimately more cost-effective, because the administrative overhead and the effort required for "setting up the workspace" remain almost the same.
