Hello,
Today, I tapped into the CAN bus of the instrument cluster (Volkswagen Passat, manufactured in April 2001).
The motor CAN communication operates at 500 kbit/s, but only uses a relatively small number of IDs (25).
'But the CAN bus with 100kBit/s doesn't transmit any data! I once measured it, and I can't detect any termination resistor, although it should be working because when I disconnect the cables from the control unit, the temperature display, door open indicator, etc. stop working (the temperature display is on the climate control system).'
Just for testing purposes, I tried connecting at 500 kbit/s, but it didn't achieve anything, not even slowing down the bus.
Does anyone have any ideas?

'However, it doesn't seem to be sending anything via the CAN output, and the wires appear to only connect to the ODB connector.'
It may be necessary to send a REQ signal to activate the output.
