Hello,

Just a quick introduction, as I'm new here. I am a trained automotive mechatronics technician, but unfortunately, I only have very basic knowledge in areas like CAN bus.

I have a "small" problem and I hope someone can help me here.

I have installed a freely programmable engine control unit (ECU) in my Audi TT 8N (manufactured in 2005). As far as I know, this ECU outputs the speed signal as an analog square wave. Since the original instrument cluster receives the tachometer signal via the CAN bus, I'm now facing a small problem.

Does anyone have an idea on how I can solve this in the simplest and most cost-effective way?

Furthermore, there are now also some warning lights flashing in the AI system. Could I somehow "program" them out?

Best regards.
Chris.

Hi,

Take a look at the following topic:

I actually already read through the thread, but I'm not really getting any further with it.

As I understand it, a speedometer was tested or controlled using an interface. But how can I apply that to my situation?

Sorry, but this is completely new territory for me! I know that this kind of thing can be annoying icon_wink.gif.

The task here is to convert an analog signal into a CAN ID.

1. Determine the frequency corresponding to a specific rotational speed using an analog signal.
2. What is the CAN ID to which the signal should be injected into the bus?

3. Using microcontrollers, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi to write your own programs, etc.
Or you can buy something suitable online; Peak-Systems has nice parts, but they also cost around 200 euros.

Furthermore, I would always use a CAN interface to monitor the bus during the development phase.
