Hello everyone,
I'm looking for some information regarding the CAN ID, start bit, length, and potentially a conversion formula to represent the vehicle speed of a VW Golf 7. Tonight, I have the opportunity to monitor the Drive CAN bus, which is very active. It would be great if someone could provide at least the CAN ID and an indication of which control unit (ECU) is sending the signal, as the signal may come from either the ABS or the navigation system (GPS), depending on the vehicle's equipment. I need this information to work regardless of the specific features installed, possibly even from the Body Control Module (BCM).
Thank you very much.
Frank.

Hello,
The vehicle speed information comes from the ABS/ESP system. I thought there might be something available for the Golf 7 for this purpose. Did you search correctly?
Best regards, Rainer.

Here's another tip:
Start the "Message Changes" view in KCANMonitor and then, with the ignition on, engine off, let the car roll down a slight incline.
You can quickly find the corresponding byte(s) that correlate with the vehicle speed. They will have a color marking for increasing values, and a different color marking for decreasing values when braking.
Best regards, Rainer.

"Thanks, my plan is similar to that."
1. Scan: Open driver's door and scan for 30 seconds.
2. Scan: Now scan and turn on the ignition.
3. Scan: Now start the engine.
4. Scan: Start the engine and drive at a constant speed of 50 km/h using cruise control.
5. Scan: Roll (in neutral gear).
6. Scan: Start the vehicle in neutral (N) with the ignition on, but without starting the engine.
You're welcome.
Best regards, Frank.
