I have original OBD2 cables with a DB9 connector (female). Unfortunately, only pin 6 for CAN High (J-2284) and pin 14 for CAN Low (J-2284) are available.
I would like to read out vehicle error codes. |
I was thinking that if I solder a USB cable with 4 wires to the correct pins, my homemade OBD2 adapter would work? }
No.
CAN-Bus is completely different from USB.
What exactly is an "original OBD2 cable"?
Either you only have a connection cable for a specific diagnostic adapter (there are different pin configurations for OBD-2 to D-Sub 9), in which case the diagnostic adapter should be placed between the D-Sub connector and the USB plug.
Or a diagnostic adapter for the serial interface – the D-sub connector would also fit there, purely from a mechanical perspective.
