Hello everyone,

I am currently trying to obtain data from a Toyota millimeter wave radar sensor. Has anyone successfully retrieved distance data from such a radar before?

Thank you and best regards.
Stefan.

Hello, your chances of getting help increase if you post more technical information about the system. icon_wink.gif

Unfortunately, I don't know much icon_smile.gif.

Photos: radar1.jpg shows the unit with manufacturer/type information, etc.
Photo radar2.jpg Connection type

Allegedly occupied:
Pin | Usage
3. Car can high.
2. Car can be lowered.
5. Radar can be high.
6. Radar can be low.
8 12V VCC
1. GND

I haven't yet figured out the CAN ID of the millimeter radar using ScanGauge, or whether it's even publicly available. My next idea was to connect a CAN sniffer directly to the bus coming from the radar.

Hello.

"You will always see the CAN ID and data; otherwise, the bus won't function."

Whether the data is encrypted or whether a protocol governs its handling is another matter entirely.

Connecting here and viewing the data seems like a straightforward approach.

Best regards, Rainer.

Hi Stefan,

Did you manage to get anywhere with the Continental ARS4-b back then?

Thank you very much and best regards.

Martin.

This is a standard radar module from Continental (type ARS 410). It is used in various vehicles and industrial applications.

There's a CAN socket driver available for the ASR40x series, and I suspect it might also work with a 410. Search for "ROS radar driver for Continental ARS 408-21/404-21 for the CARMA Platform" in the Git repository.

In the Git repository, you'll find everything related to object recognition, driver status, and calibration.
