Hello,

Today, I installed my multifunction steering wheel (from a new Audi S3 8P) into my 'older' Audi S3 8L. To do this, I used a steering column control unit from an A4 B7 to convert the LIN messages coming from the steering wheel into CAN messages and send them to the bus. The steering wheel (and the multifunction buttons) are working perfectly.

However, I am still experiencing the following problems since the renovation:
- The navigation screen turns off every 2 minutes, and at the same time, the sound and the FIS (multifunction display) disappear (as if you briefly pressed the power button). However, the navigation's button illumination remains on (provided the light is turned on). If you press the power button again, the song will resume playing from the same point, and the screen will turn back on.
- Occasionally, the same issue as described above happens very briefly (the screen and sound disappear for a moment, then they reappear). For example, I noticed it when I was accelerating rapidly. While the navigation system was running, it briefly turned off and then back on again.

Navi is an Audi Navi Plus (RNS-E). Does anyone know if the steering column control unit might be sending messages on the bus that are causing the navigation system to go into standby mode (the navigation system has been going into standby mode approximately every 2 minutes since the modification)?
If anyone could offer some advice on what might be causing the (intermittent) on/off behavior (perhaps a fault somewhere in the power supply), I would be VERY grateful. Right now, I'm at a standstill and don't know where to start looking.

Best regards,
Thomas.

The problem has now been resolved. It was caused by a missing S-connector on the steering column control unit. As a result, the control unit incorrectly sent messages to the bus indicating that the ignition was off, which caused the navigation system to shut down.

Best regards,
Thomas.

You have to come up with that idea first icon_smile.gif.
Great that it's working now!
