Hi everyone,
First of all, I'd like to give a big compliment to the forum; you guys are doing some really great work. Unfortunately, I'm not very knowledgeable about CAN technology myself, so I'm turning to you because I think you're the right people to talk to.
I once looked into whether it would be possible to display additional information on the MMI (Multi Media Interface) using an add-on module or something similar. However, I couldn't find anything available. Now, here's where I wanted to ask you about feasibility: Is it possible, and if so, would anyone be willing to implement it?
'Would it be possible to design a module that retrieves data from the powertrain CAN bus, such as turbocharger boost pressure, oil temperature, charge air temperature/intake air temperature, and perhaps a couple more parameters? This module could then feed this data into the MMI (Multi Media Interface) via an external AV (Audio/Video) input. This would allow these data points to be displayed in the menu using the AV interface.'
GrThe interest...erteBest regards,The interested person.

Hello, prospective customer,
Das The problem is that the MMI system uses a fiber optic system (which makes it very expensive and also complicated).
Displaying information about AV should be feasible, but even that isn't exactly easy.
Anyway, it's an interesting idea you have there.
Best regards,
Benjamin. That's definitely an interesting idea you have there.
Best regards,
BenjaminGreetings.

Hi Benjamin,
Thank you for your response and assessment. I personally wouldn't be able to implement it myself, so I rely on someone from your team to make it happen.
As you mentioned, retrieving the data is possible, but transmitting it to the MMI (Man-Machine Interface) isn't straightforward. That's why I was thinking about feeding the data through an AV (Audio/Video) connection. However, I'm also unsure how to process the data within a module so that it can be converted into an AV signal and displayed on the screen.
Do you have any idea?

Hi,
II personally haven't worked in this area yet, but it would be an interesting project.
Best regards,
Benjamin.inRegards,
BenjaGreetings.

It is not possible to create custom menu entries via the MOST bus. The entries are stored within the control unit itself and are only activated or controlled through the bus. If you want to display your own data, you would need to use an FBAS/video signal and feed it into the video input of the MMI interface. However, I believe that this would require more extensive hardware (e.g., a video output) or a PC running hidden in the background. Displaying the data on the FIS (driver information system) would likely be simpler.
