Hello everyone.

I hope I'm in the right subforum with my question, as this is also my first post. icon_smile.gif
I would like to know how the topology of the Comfort CAN bus is implemented in vehicles (for example, I have an A3 8P from 2007). I believe that in my vehicle, the Comfort bus is implemented using a star topology. How does termination work here? Is it not necessary with a star configuration because the lines are generally short and the Comfort bus only operates at 125 kbps anyway?
'Isn't the Comfort bus less critical because it seems that all retrofitters are connecting their control units to it, either in the rear or in the footwell? I once saw an illustrated guide for a Golf 5 where the bus lines on both sides of the A-pillar were connected to star points in the footwell and one under the dashboard.'

BSure, here's the translation:

'Yes.'
'Hi.'nsiBye.Hansi.

Hi Hansi,

das ist in der Tat nicht so tragisch beim Comfort-CAN.
Womöglich ist da die Terminierung sogar in den Steuergeräten drin.
DI don't actually know that.

I can only report that I connected a auxiliary heater to the Comfort-CAN, tapping into the bus at the Premium FSE control unit.
And secondly, I retrofitted an original parking sensor (PDC) which is connected to the drive-CAN.
Both devices work perfectly and I don't have any bus errors that would be reported anywhere.

BTW: Welcome to the forum ;)

Zumindest der Komfort CAN verfügt über eine verteilte Terminierung.
II could go on for hours about this, but I'll get straight to the point:
If you are accessing something in parallel or 'piggybacking' onto it, you do NOT need any specific timing configuration.

This is likely also true for a Motor Control Area Network (Mot CAN).n.I could go on and on about this for hours, but to put it simply:That is likely also the case with the MOT CAN.That is likely also the case with the MOT CAN.

Basically, each control unit has its own wiring harness. It also depends on the cable length where you connect it and how long your cables are.
But it should work.
