Hello,

Unfortunately, this new generation auxiliary heater only has a CAN bus interface and a single diagnostic line for which I can find no information.

As an experienced electrical engineer with almost no CAN bus experience: What would be the likely effort involved if I were to install a CAN bus controller specifically for the auxiliary heater in my car? This includes both financial costs and development time.

And:
- Is it possible to access the bus commands for turning the heater on/off? Audi and Eberspächer will probably keep these things very private.
- Are there any ready-to-use CAN bus controllers, ideally with a GSM module, that I could simply install? Would I need a separate development environment just to process two command types and potentially error messages from the auxiliary heater?

I would appreciate a brief 'go/no-go' assessment. Right now, I probably still have the option of returning the auxiliary heater.

Oh, by the way: The auxiliary heater is an Eberspächer D5S-F (Hydronic II F) from an Audi Q5 or Audi B8, and the car is a 2002 Omega B..As an experienced electrical engineer with almost no experience in CAN bus technology, what would likely be the time and effort involved if I were to implement a CAN bus controller myself for use specifically with a vehicle's SH (likely referring to a specific system or component) within the car? This includes both financial costs and development-related challenges.And:- Is it possible to access the bus commands for enabling/disabling certain functions? It's likely that companies like Audi and Eberspächer will keep this information highly confidential.- Are there any readily available CAN bus controllers, ideally with a GSM module, that can be directly integrated? Do I need a separate development environment in addition to just processing two command types and potentially error messages from the SH (System Head Unit)?I would appreciate a quick 'go' or 'no-go' assessment. Currently, I probably still have the opportunity to return the shares.Okay: The SH unit is an Eberspächer D5S-F (Hydronic II F) from an Audi Q5 or Audi B8, and the car it's installed in is a 2002 Omega B.
