Read mileage of different vehicle types

Hello,

I'm far from being a CAN bus expert, but I want to be able to read the mileage of various vehicles in the simplest possible way. As I understand it, there doesn't seem to be a standardized interface for this, does there? The only one I know of is the FMS interface used in trucks. Unfortunately, I need something for regular passenger cars.

Is it possible to relatively easily determine the vehicle's identification number (VIN) based on its mileage? If so, what would I need for that, or what should I be aware of?

A simple way is to connect a manufacturer-specific tester and use it to query and simultaneously log the values.
