Hi!

I know, this is actually about the CAN bus.
Has anyone ever worked with the LIN bus before?

I'm trying to install the rear Climatronic control unit in a T5 without also installing the front one.
Getting the control unit to start up. Both are connected via a LIN bus.

Has anyone ever done anything like that before?

Greetings.

If you speak English, please contact me privately (PM), and I can help you with your car's LIN data. I have experience with it. icon_wink.gif

Hi!

Unfortunately, I cannot start a private conversation in this forum unless there are at least 6 posts already. So, I will post it here:

I'm trying to do the following: I bought a VW T5 (T5.2, facelift).
rear climatronic control module with LIN bus interface that I want to install in my car with a manual transmission.
regulated heating system in my old T5 (2006).

This rear control module (part number 7E5907049B) features a LIN bus.
I have the connection/pinout diagram. If I connect it to 12V and GND, it doesn't power on. I assume it needs to be activated by a LIN bus command/request.

"Do you have any information about the communication protocol between the front module and this rear module?"

"Additionally, I also ordered the front control module, but it hasn't arrived yet."
My plan is to use a LIN bus sniffer to intercept the data being transmitted between the front module and the rear module, and then copy those transactions using a small microcontroller module.
The last part is not a problem for me. The only thing I'm missing is the protocol.
"If you have any information that could help me avoid having to do a lot of reverse engineering, that would be fantastic."

Best regards,
Simon.
