Hello,
I replaced the original RNS510 in my VW Passat B7 (3C) manufactured in 2013, which originally had a reverse camera (High version, dynamic guidelines), with a Chinese radio (MIC AV5V8)).
The CAN bus connection is working (the radio recognizes the steering wheel buttons, reverse signal, etc.).
However, the reverse camera doesn't seem to be providing a signal when reverse gear is engaged (the oscilloscope shows no activity on the RGB pins of the VW connector).
If I understand correctly, the reverse camera needs to be activated first (using a CAN command?) in the "high" mode.
I've been reading some data on the CAN bus related to the radio (with the RNS510, with a Chinese radio, and without a radio).
The only ID that I've noticed is that the bit change when switching between forward and reverse gear is 0x62D - but it seems to come with a bit of delay.
I associate these IDs with reverse gear.
- 0x470 Byte, Bit 5: Information about reverse gear.
- 0x531 likely indicates the reverse light.
- 0x351 Direction: Reverse (or something like that)
I would like to either build a device that activates the rear camera when I shift into reverse, or modify the radio to output that signal.
Regarding the question:
- Does anyone know the CAN bus ID/data required to activate the reverse camera?
- Does anyone know the default settings for the CAN bus on the AV8V5 so that the radio can automatically activate the RFK?
Thank you.
Nargolf.
