CAN Bus Data Table: Explained & Examples

Hello.

Can someone tell me where the CAN bus data is stored?
I mean, an analog value is being received, for example, a temperature reading.
to the control unit and is then transmitted as a CAN bus signal.
There must be some kind of table that links each ID to its corresponding value.
Is the value being output to the CAN bus or what?

Can I avoid logging this information by using this table?

Hi Gordon,
As far as I know, everything is 'hard-coded,' meaning it's stored directly within the program itself.
Since you can't simply swap the input signals on the control unit, it doesn't make sense to store this information flexibly in a table.
I fear that simply logging and analyzing data will bring you closer to the IDs you are looking for.
Are you still working on your BMW? Perhaps there are other people (groups, etc.) who have access to this information.

3 ways to disassemble the software (probably the most difficult option), logging and analyzing (very time-consuming), or being an employee of the company and obtaining the data from the development department (likely involving a formal request).
