Communication with multiple CAN buses?

Hello everyone,

I stumbled upon this forum by chance while I'm currently exploring the topic of CarPCs. My main goal is to expand the functionality of the RNS-E system, run a PC through its AV input, and control it via the RNS-E or the Multifunction Steering Wheel (MFL).

The comfort CAN has been mentioned several times, but in addition to that, there's also the infotainment CAN and the engine CAN. Has anyone tried querying multiple buses using a single CAN adapter? Or are multiple CAN adapters required for that?

Here's what I've found out so far (please correct me if I'm wrong):
Im Audi liegt am Radio nur der Infotainment CAN an (wenn ein Radio ab Werk verbaut ist). In aelteren Modellen kann dies auch der Komfort CAN sein (Audi Radios verstehen normalerweise beides, das RNS-E aber nur den Infotainment CAN). Da die Busse mit verschiedenen Geschwindigkeiten arbeiten und in den aelteren Audis kein CAN Gateway verbaut ist kann ein CAN Geraet nur mit Geraeten auf dem gleichen Buss kommunizieren. Das KI ist das einzige Geraet was an allen Bussen angeschlossen ist. Im A3 8P gibt es zusaetzlich noch ein CAN Gateway. Jetzt habe ich ein A4 B6 KI (mit FIS) und ein RNS-E mal provisorisch angeschlossen und ein wenig auf dem Infotainment CAN gelauscht. Man kann dort die KI Uhrzeit sehen und was in den oberen zwei Zeilen angezeigt wird. Leider wirft mein KI jede Menge Fehler aus, das die ganzen Sensoren nicht vorhanden sind. Ausserdem fehlt mir noch das Lenksaeulensteuergeraet und der Lenkstockhebel, mit dem ich das FIS durchschalten koennte. Aber zumindest geht's so theoretisch. Das Problem ist nun das auf dem Infotainment CAN keine sonstigen Daten uebertragen werden. Dafuer benoetigt man den Komfort oder Motor CAN. Therefore, the question is how to communicate with multiple CAN buses simultaneously without using a gateway that is already installed.

So, if there's anyone else here who is interested in this topic, I would be happy to exchange ideas with you. I'm still very much a beginner, but I'm very interested.
