Mercedes E-Class 2000: Reviews & Experiences

Hello everyone,

I think it's great that there's a forum dedicated to CAN. I'm a complete beginner and I just recently received my Lawicel CANUSB adapter.
I then tried to connect to the bus system of my Mercedes E-Class (W210) from 2000. However, I'm not receiving any messages. This also happens even when I disable the 'listen only' mode. When I enter a speed of 250 kbits and disable 'listen only,' the display in the instrument cluster and the steering wheel buttons are disrupted. Otherwise, the LED on the adapter only lights up red. Otherwise, nothing happens.
I suspect I'm just using the wrong speed setting, and that Mercedes doesn't use a 'standard speed' like VW and others do. Can anyone offer me some advice on this?

Hello, I read your other post about the MHz speeds of the 'Quarz.' Unfortunately, I don't really know much about electrical engineering.

value. This command is only active if the CAN channel is closed.
xx BTR0 value in hex.
yy BTR1 value in hex:
0x00000000

That's how I calculated the bitrate.

Mercedes doesn't use any 'unconventional' bitrates, but only standard bitrates. Just because you don't like the 'odd' number doesn't mean it's not a common bitrate. Quite the opposite...
