'Hi, I have a 2.0L TFSI engine installed in my Golf 1 and I want to connect a tachometer. Apparently, there are CAN bus converters that can convert the signal to an older format. Does anyone have any tips on this? Or is there a simple 5V speed signal available at the engine control unit (ECU)? If so, which pin would it be? Because then I could get a converter to transform it into the signal I need. Thanks.'

The engine control unit (ECU) receives a CAN signal from the ABS system, and so does the speedometer.
Therefore, only the ABS receives analog speed signals. This is how it works in almost all new cars, and likely also in your engine icon_wink.gif.

Have you ever Googled to see if anyone has already programmed a tool like this?

DAnke danke das Problem ist ich möchte meinen Drehzahlmesser anschließen !
D'Which pin on the engine control unit provides a 5V signal representing the engine speed?'
Or, 'Is there another way to obtain the 'engine speed' information?'n?Is there another way to obtain the 'engine speed'?Is there another way to obtain the 'engine speed'?

Ich glaube, dass du das ohne CAN <-> Analog Converter vergessen kannst.
Obs sowas fertig gibt ist fraglich.
Selbst bauen ist mit Sicherheit eine nennenswerte Herausforderung.

Best regards,
Maxx.

If you want to do it in the most basic way, you can also go directly to the supply lines icon_wink.gif.

'How can I directly connect to it? I used a blocking diode to tap into the camshaft position sensor, and it worked great. However, it registered the sensor as a fault, so the car wouldn't start again after driving for a short time. Any other ideas?'
