I no longer have the car. I don't remember whether it had a tire pressure monitoring system that used the wheel speed sensors of the ABS/ESP.

What I'm certain of is that there were no tire pressure sensors installed in the tires.

Probably a used RDK (tire pressure monitoring system) control unit would be easier to find; they are available starting from around 20 euros. It's worth just checking what information it provides.

It might be possible to retrieve TPMS sensor data using a diagnostic tool like VCDS.

I would say that the chance of someone messing around with your wiring harness who doesn't have the same intentions as you is quite low.
