Hello fellow forum members,
In my new job, I've been tasked with assisting in the conversion of a 2011 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter from a combustion engine to an electric drivetrain. Before any components like the motor are removed, I need to perform a complete vehicle CAN bus analysis/trace to determine which control units communicate with each other and with which signals. This is so that we know which signals may need to be replaced later on, in order to avoid error messages.
Unfortunately, I don't know much about CAN bus technology. Is anyone willing to help me with this? I would be very grateful!
First, I have the following questions:
* Where can I find the CAN bus connections in the vehicle?
* Approximately how many CAN bus systems are expected to be in the Sprinter (e.g., engine compartment bus, body bus)?
What bitrates are being used?
'How should I generally approach this task?'
I would be very grateful for any help.
Greetings, bubblexgum.
